To celebrate 100 years of Rotary in Australia and New Zealand, we’ve teamed up with UNICEF to give life-saving vaccines to 100,000 children across the Pacific.
Well what a wonderful night had by all who attended our Christmas Party. The setting at Rod & Paddy-Ann’s home was amazing & the food, well cooked by our very own Master Chef and helpers.
I think the highlight for me was Peter Borries' impersonation of Keith Richards, brilliant.
This week we are back at The Bullock Bar with guest speaker Dr Stefan Billing, see you all there.
From Friday the 3rd December you will need to show your Vaccine Certificate to enter hotels, bars & café’s. So you will need a Vaccine Certificate for our Tuesday meetings.
This will be compulsory for all whom wish to attend.
Take care all and enjoy this wonderful weather

Past President George Scott presented with the Paul Harris Fellow Sapphire award
At our regular meeting on the 16th November, it was with great pleasure that President Rich awarded George Scott with the Paul Harris Fellow + Sapphire award.
George was President of our club in 2018-19 and this year was the intitator of, and the main organiser of the successful Farmers Winter Crop Competition.
Congratulations George.

Presentation to our Club by Graeme Gale, Head Pilot for the Otago Rescue helicopter Trust
On Tuesday 16th we were also fortunate to have Graeme Gale (and Brendon his pilot) "drop in" firstly to thank our Club for our fundraising, but also explain where some of that money was going.
Graeme was inroduced by Warwick Deuchrass who is a Trustee of the Otago Rescue Helicopter Trust.
Specifically Graeme gave us a visual tour of their latest Airbus H145 Rotary Wing aircraft; their current fleet, and the challenges of flying around our Wanaka region under current VFR and IFR rules.
Graeme then patiently took questions on a very cold night and allowed some of us to put our grubby hands over his pristine aircraft prior to travelling back to Mosgiel -via IFR.
Hot News - Just in. Photographs and commentary of our Christmas party at the Ponderosa Pemberton
After it was forecast to be slightly pluvial, a very enjoyable and dry Christmas function was held on Rod and Paddy-Ann's front lawn. Many thanks to them, and to Chris Wright for his superb organisation and coordination.
Many Celebrity guests turned up including such luminaries as Keith Richards, Bozo the Clown, Tony Brown, The Bride of Frankenstein, The Britomart Basher, Cruella De Vil, Indiana Jones and some very "interesting variations" embracing our world of diversity and Santa Claus.
It should be noted that many other celebrity guests arrived dressed down and attending incognito but were instantly recognisable as noted Wanaka Rotary members and partners.
Also thanks to our Musician Robert Glenn who kept the music lively and eased back on the Rap.
Thanks to Sally Angus and Geoff Tomkins for additional photographs
Day 3 of the Orchard Road Firewood Clean-up

Guest Speaker : Tuesday 30th November 2021
This Tuesday night (30th), we welcome back Dr Stefan to give us an overview on the role of inflammation in aging. Should be very interesting.
Stefan's talk is outlined below.
Inflammaging: The Role of Inflammation in the Acceleration of Aging
As we age, our body starts to slow down, break down, and develop various symptoms,
ailments, and diseases. We accept this as a fact without thinking much about it. One of
the reasons for age-related symptoms and diseases is inflammaging, a low-grade
inflammation that develops with advanced age.
Many don’t know, but you don’t have to accept symptoms of inflammaging as an
unavoidable consequence of aging. It doesn’t have to be this way. You can live a vibrant
and healthy life at any age. With proper nutrition and lifestyle strategies, you can slow the
inflammaging process and reduce your risk of age-related symptoms and health issues.
On the 30th November, you will learn what inflammaging is and what are its common symptoms.
You will understand the top causes, the best lab tests and my top natural support
strategies for inflammaging to improve your health and well-being through old age.
see you there!

A Note from John Milburn
Dear Rotarian ,
At our last Directors Meeting it was suggested that some of our Members may have an interest in doing some volunteer driving for the Food for Love organisation .
I can now confirm our guests arrive on Monday 21st Febuary on the airport bus (gets in about 6.30pm) and they leave at 8am on Saturday 26th on the same bus.
We are still 1 hosting couple short so if you could help out, I am sure it would be a great experience.
