Trusted Home Care Service in Wanaka since 2011
Penny’s Home Care has been established since 2011. Our staff provide a personalised service, specifically tailored to meet our clients needs and requirements in the Wanaka, Lake Hawea, Albert Town, Luggate, Cromwell and surrounding areas. Our specially trained staff help our clients to remain safely in the comfort of their own homes. Providing family members with peace of mind, in the knowledge that their loved ones are receiving genuine, quality care.
This because we enjoy it. This is not just a job to us, our team is full of kind people who believe in what they are doing. PHC requires all our workers to not only have the skills needed for the services we offer but to have genuine kindness and integrity. This creates a healthy team ethic and safe practises at all times. Quality Care is not just about getting the job done, it is about giving what is needed in a gentle caring way, every time. Many of our team are working hard to communicate and engage with all our healthcare partners. We are community focused and are constantly trying to find new ways to support this special industry.

Past Speakers
Speaker for 30th May: Dr Wendy Bamford
Principal Wanaka Primary School
Wendy outlined her experiences and challenges as a teacher over the past 50years, 20 of those in Wanaka.
She talked about the changes that have happened in education over the time she has been teaching and especially the rate of change that is happening at the moment. Wendy asked if future changes in education should be bipartisan with the political parties agreeing rather than changes with every new government.
She also talked about the workload and stress on teachers and the number of good teachers leaving.
Thanks to George Scott for Tuesday evenings review.
Dr Wendy Bamford addressing Club members Wendy thanked by George Scott
Speaker for 23rd May : Joss Toomey
Joss Toomey runs MoveWell Rehab Pilates and Fitness and presented to our Club a series of exercises to keep busy people relaxed and flexible during their daily lives. Unsurprisingly, Club members had little difficulty in performing these exercises showing what a fit bunch we are. A portion of our members are Joss's regular customers. Joss's classes are very popular.

A temporary farewell to current President Mike Elliot (and Liz) .
Past president Richard Wallace led a vote of "bon voyage" and thanks to President Mike, who with the "power behind the throne" Liz are escaping to the British Isles for our winter months. Mike has promised to send back some photos and commentary from time to time without some of those unpronouncable, unfathomable Scottish words that became part of our tuesday nights!
But seriously Mike and Liz. Have a great trip.
Past president Rich proposing a vote of thanks for Mike's leadership during a busy year. Momentarily lost for words

HAWEA FLATS PRIMARY CLASSROOM BLOCK OPENING
Sitting outside on classroom steps yesterday, the Hawea community celebrated the opening of a block of 8 new classrooms at Hawea Flats Primary School to accommodate its rapidly growing role, now numbering over 200. The opening ceremony was ably lead by a group of year 6 pupils and started with a fascinating account of the history of the school.
It opened 141y ago in 1882 to educate the local farming community. The last time pupil numbers were large was in the 1950s when the construction of the control dam on the lake brought an influx of young families to the area.
Headmistress, Tania Pringle thanked the local community for their support and fundraising and South Base , the builders for their hard work which brought the building project to completion.
Thanks to Nicola Carey for the update.

Dear rotarian friends, my name is Silke and I am the Incoming President of the Rotary Club Buedingen, a town near Frankfurt/Germany. My son, Hendrik, is currently in New Zealand. He would like to improve his English, meet new people and gain new life experiences. For this he got a New Zealand Work and Travel Visa. He has recently completed his 3 year apprenticeship in Germany as a painter/decorator and varnisher. The curriculum included wallpapering, painting, drywall, plastering and flooring. In his spare time he has been working as a fireman at the voluntary fire brigade where he is trainer for the youth fire brigade. I would like to ask if there might be a member of your Rotary Club who could offer him a job during this time. So that you can learn more about Hendrik, I will gladly send you his full curriculum vitae. I need your e-mail address for this. With warm rotarian greetings Silke Poehls
A Note on the Family Support Programme
I believe your organisation is aware of the Community Networks/LINK Family Support Programme, a volunteer-based service supporting local families in the Upper Clutha. The first round of the service has gone really well and we are now looking for more volunteers to help our young families with companionship and household tasks. The commitment is two hours a week and we match volunteers with a family for a minimum of six weeks, so that a trusting and mutually beneficial relationship can be established.
We would be very grateful if you would please share the attached flyer, or the linked job description, within your networks and ask anyone interested to please get in touch with me.
