To celebrate 100 years of Rotary in Australia and New Zealand, we’ve teamed up with UNICEF to give life-saving vaccines to 100,000 children across the Pacific.
So another great day after an average weekend. This seems to be the Autumn that just keeps on giving.
The Directors have our monthly meeting tonight and we will report back to the club in the next Bulletin (30th May).
On Friday the 10th June 2022 we have the Winter Crop Prize Giving Dinner and you and partners are invited. The cost is $25.00 pp and I will need RSVP’s by Wednesday 1st June. Our Tuesday meeting on the 7th June is cancelled. More info in the coming weeks.
We are running a bit short on Guest Speakers, so if you have someone in mind please give Rosie a call with the relevant info.
The Firewood sales are moving along so get your orders in, you don’t want to miss out. Mike E is the contact for this.
As always hope this finds you all well
Cheers Rich
New Member Presentation Tuesday 3rd May: Marie Fitchett
Marie Fitchett started her education at Logan Park School in Dunedin, tutored by our Duncan Boswell. After her education completed in 1990 she joined the N Z police College training with an interest in the welfare of children. She stayed with the police for 15 years.
In 1991 she was accepted for the Rotary Group Study Exchange to the UK.
Marie met and married her husband, also an Exchange team member the year before hers, he was also in the Police Force.
Marie moved to Wanaka from Wellington where she was a member of the Lower Hutt Rotary Club.
It is Lower Hutt's loss but Wanaka's gain in a member with her diversified experience of life.
We welcome Marie to our Club and to Wanaka.
Thanks to Graeme Smart for providing a summary of Marie's presentation

2022 Winter Crop Competition
Planning is well underway for this competition scheduled for 10th June and leading the charge are George and Geoff.
This year we are moving the evening event to the Hawea Community Centre. This Centre has more space than the excellent Rugby Club building in Wanaka and will allow guests to move around the bar area and mingle more easily.
The photos below show the area available and possible arrangements for this event.
An update from Tony O'Regan
On Saturday April 30 a few members joined some Aspiring Rotary members to clean up the bike park at Eely Point. An hours work and good as new ... until the wind blew on the day after. It is the thought that counts! PHOTO: Pip O'Regan Aspiring Rotary.
A Note from P.P. Mike
Rotarians should be aware that we get a lot of sponsorship in the year from a variety of different business houses, which is even more appreciated in these constrained times.
One that I was in receipt of recently deserves mention – I had to get Certificate frames from the Kodak Shop here in Wanaka, and I asked Steve, the Boss man, what he could do for us, as Rotary. He instantly gave us a 25% discount on the frames (10 of them) which saved us $100.
It is this sort of response that I find not only satisfying, but extremely warming that Rotary is held in such regard. I encourage all our members to return the favour where possible and use the likes of the Kodak shop, as a sponsor of our Club, and let them see that their contribution is welcome and appreciated, no matter how big or small it may be.
WOOD WOOD WOOD
Would you believe it?? We have wood to burn!!
Orders for semi-dry eucalyptus firewood being taken now, for immediate pick up or delivery, but not stacked – you have to get your exercise somehow!
Where would you get an offer like this? No inflation, no higher interest rates, no GST, no squirrels!!
And all this for $100 per cubic metre!!! Only five weeks of the increase in your pension and it is paid for!!!
This is a Rotary fundraiser, and the result of hours of unpaid slave labour during the hottest days of summer, so come on, get ordering!!! Support your Club – and ultimately your community.
First in, best dressed, so get your order in to me at:
Check if you have a duty to do, and if you are unable to do your duty it is your duty to find someone else to do it for you and to inform the President of any changes.
Please when going to get your meal please be aware that there are people behind you and if you take a very large helping others may miss out. It may be you who misses out next week.
At the end of meeting please help the staff at the Wanaka District Club by returning glasses to the bar and plates to the kitchen. Please stand when being fined or addressing the speaker
