Hello fellow Rotarians,
I remember being told when I was little that as we get older time flies faster. Today, we are nearly two weeks into October, and I am wondering where the year is going. Ten weeks’ time and it will be Christmas!
A fabulous night was had at the bowling club on Tuesday 30 September with the women’s team showing their
abilities to learn new skills and a few of us throwing down an incorrect bias. Thank you to the social committee for organizing this event.
The first weekend in October saw a group of Wānaka and Aspiring Rotarians together with members of the
Tititea Trust and some wonderful partners venture into the Tititea homestead. The food was yummy, many
thanks to Chris, Kelly and Anne for organizing this. A ceiling was repaired in one of the cabins, the chainsaws
went nonstop, with wood being chopped up, trees dropped, and the woodshed filled. Lots of cleaning happened in the kitchen (mouse droppings), sleeping quarters and bathrooms. When we departed on Sunday after lunch the place was ‘sparkling’. This was a great opportunity for our clubs to Unite for Good in our community and collaborate to prepare the Tititea homestead for the next lot of students and summer visitors.

Last Tuesday night we had the Foundation movie night with a fabulous turnout of people. I look forward to
hearing how much the club made for the Polio Plus project. Great team effort by the Foundation committee to organize this special evening.
The literacy project is progressing with student numbers coming in from the 6 local primary schools for the 2026 school year. At this stage we will have more than 200 five-year-olds starting schools in the Upper Clutha region.
This week is committee night, and I want to thank everyone in our club for all their hard work. Everyone
contributes in different ways to ensure the success of our club. There is lots happening between now and Xmas so please help where you can and keep smiling.
Going forward we have Jamie Ward from Otago Fish and Game on Tuesday 21 October when we are back at
the Albie, then the following week is Melbourne Cup night which will be held at Hello Ranger in Northlake.
The Duck Race is on Saturday 25 th October. This is always a special event with the children of Wānaka getting to watch their ducks float down the creek. A wonderful fund raiser with some of the funds from this event going to help the Upper Clutha Children’s Medical Trust.
Have a wonderful fortnight everyone and looking forward to seeing you all back at the Albie on the 21 October.

Tititea Lodge Cleanup
A very successful weekend according to my sources. Full of camaraderie, fun and hard work. There also appears to be a story or two to tell? A slideshow of all photos will screen prior to our meeting on the 21st.

WAI Wānaka is hosting a Beach Clean Up on Sunday, October 20th at 10am at the Wānaka Lakefront, and we’d love to invite your business to get involved. Together, we’ll help remove pollutants before they enter the beautiful lake.
The clean-up usually runs for around 1.5–2 hours. We understand this is a busy time of year and truly appreciate any time you’re able to give.
There will be kai provided and a chance to win Paradiso tickets as a thank you for your efforts. I have attached a poster with all the information. We hope to see you there

With this short workshop the team will learn about where your stormwater goes and the impact it can have on freshwater. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn further how as a business you can contribute to preventing pollutants from entering the Lake. .

Greetings from D9815, Melbourne and Gippsland Areas. My local club is Maroondah, about 30km NE of Melbourne. Valda, I am an aviation nut, having attended the Royal International Tatoo (RIAT) in the UK, and a regular attendee to Avalon International Airshow (near Geelong) and Warbirds Downunder at Temora (NSW). I have always coveted attending Warbirds over Wanaka and have started looking forward to my options for 2026 and attending WOW over the Easter Weekend. I notice from the club website that the club assists in the running of the event, although there is no indication of exactly what you do. If i was to indicate that I would be available to assist over the weekend, would that be something your club would entertain? As I did when I went to RIAT in 2016, i was hosted by Rotarians in the near area and wonder if amongst your members there would be a Rotarian willing to host me for 3-4 day? I will have my own means of transport over the stay period. If home hosting isn't available, do you have connections in the accomodation industry where you might suggest i look for somewhere to stay?
