To celebrate 100 years of Rotary in Australia and New Zealand, we’ve teamed up with UNICEF to give life-saving vaccines to 100,000 children across the Pacific.
I hope this finds you all well and ready for another busy year.
Some sad news today with the country being in Red-Light Covid Level. Warbirds Over Wanaka has been cancelled and I’m waiting on confirmation about the A&P Show. I have made the decision to cancel our Rotary Duck Race scheduled for the 5th February.
Last week we had a great social night at Mike & Liz Elliott’s. Thank you for your hospitality.
I had a catch-up last night with D.G. Nick and he showed me his pumpkin. Tony & Nicola I hope ours are growing well.
Our New Year Book Sale was a huge success and a big thank you to all involved. Plunket will be getting a good size cheque.
Stay safe, keep cool
Cheers Rich

As highlighed by President Richard, and reported by Tony Regan in the "Wanaka Sun" ; the recent booksale on behalf of Plunket was a resounding success with $8,000 raised for the Plunket Organisation.

Volunteering Opportunity: Breast Cancer Foundation NZ.
House and Garden Tour Wanaka
Hiya, I’m getting in touch from Breast Cancer Foundation NZ. We’ve got a volunteering opportunity coming up in Wanaka on the 1st and 2nd April – the NZ House and Garden Tour is on, and we’re really struggling to find volunteers to help on the day, they’ll be stationed at a house on the tour checking wristbands and making sure the houses stay nice and safe! I thought this may be a great, fun volunteering opportunity for some of your members so long as they are comfortable being on their feet for 4 hours. It’s quite a cool gig – you get to spend the day or half day at an AMAZING house and in return you receive an exclusive discount on a ticket for the day you’re not volunteering (the Wanaka tour is sold out so it’s the only way to get a ticket), as well as a thank you goodie bag from the sponsors, and we can pop them and their friends at the same house! This is the link to register and explains more about the shift options: https://www.breastcancerfoundation.org.nz/how-you-can-help/get-involved/house-and-garden-tours Do you think you could share this opportunity with your awesome residents? Like I say, the more the merrier and they’re welcome to volunteer with friends, partners, adult kids etc. It’s a great, fun day out! Let me know, I’d also be super keen to hear any other ways I can let the Wanaka community know about this opportunity as our volunteer numbers in Wanaka are seriously dire. Thanks heaps, Elise

Lower Hutt Rotary Club Visit : 21st- 26th February
An update from Mike Elliott
As you will be aware, the Lower Hutt Rotary Club are going to be down in Wanaka from the 21st - 26th February.
As part of their time here we would like to show them some of the area from the Lake, and we would like to establish how many members have boats and would be willing to take part in this exercise. It would only be for a morning or afternoon, and at this stage we are looking at the morning of the 22nd February.
Can those of you who have - or have access to - a boat and would be willing to help, please get back to me as soon as possible.
There are nine or ten people coming down from Hutt, plus some locals too, so not a huge number.
Return email, text, or phone call to me please with responses.
Many thanks - let's show these people what Wanaka is really like!!
