Presidents Report  November 29th, 2021
So what a great week we had.

Monday 6th George Scott, Ian Shore & I drove to Bluff to meet the helicopter that was taking us to Yankee River Hut on Stewart island.
We arrived at the hut, stowed our gear, had lunch and then got started on the painting.
Late November a couple of builders had spent a week or so Re-cladding the back wall & 2 ends, also fitting some new windows.
It was our job to paint it all, and over the next 4 days we painted and painted and painted. If it was nailed down we painted it, if it wasn’t nailed down we still painted it.
By Friday morning we had finished and it looked fantastic. An amazing job done by all.

So tomorrow night is our last for 2021 and we are at Edgewater. Please remember your Vaccination Certificate or you will not be allowed to attend.

Stay safe, Rich

Guest Speaker : Tuesday 30th November 2021 . Dr Stefan Billing

Presentation of Dr. Stefan Billing, Chiropractor – Inflammaging and aging

Dr. Stefan is a chiropractic practitioner in functional neurology for more than 20 years and gave an insightful message on 30th November on how inflammation can accelerate ageing and what we can do to slow down the aging process and have a healthy lifestyle. Some of the key points noted are as follows:

  • Increased sugar and carbohydrate consumption can accelerate the aging process.

  • Oxidated stress is another factor, and need regular intake of antioxidant foods to cover this.

  • There are certain foods and excess alcohol consumption also lead to inflammaging.

  • Body needs good fats and good bacteria for a healthy gut function.

Vitamins must be essential part of our diet for the slowing of aging process. Mainly; Vitamin D which is free from sun light, Vitamin B, Vitamin C- which is a powerful antioxidant which neutralises the free radicals (in citrus fruit). Omega 3 fatty acids are needed for each and every cell function.

Stephan recommended intermittent fasting for the improvement of gut function, keep moving which helps us to have more oxygen to cells and sound sleep as an important routine we must follow to recharge our physical and mental batteries. Dr. Stephan will send a list of anti-inflammatory foods to help. Overall a well received and informative evening.

Thanks To Mathew Abraham for the presentation review and the  thanks to the speaker
